Journey from Floppy disks to the Cloud
My relationship with computers started long before my career did. I remember installing Gigabyte drivers using a floppy disk on Windows 98. I had no idea what a driver even was, but I kept trying until something worked. That curiosity never left. Years later, in my first year of college, I got my hands on the Windows 8 preview and immediately installed it on my uncle’s system. Broke it completely. No regrets - it was my first real introduction to the kernel, and the first time I learned how to recover a system from scratch.
When I eventually got into Linux, something clicked. The ability to talk directly to hardware, tweak things at a low level, read about it in Digit every month - it felt less like learning and more like finally speaking a language I was always meant to.
Mechanical Engineering gave me a way to think about systems - how components interact, where things fail, why constraints matter. Cloud and DevOps gave me a canvas to apply that thinking at scale. The transition wasn’t a pivot, it was a natural pull.
⚡ What Drives Me
When something’s broken or inefficient, I go quiet and disappear into it until it’s fixed. I enjoy making systems simple and robust - the kind of infrastructure that just works, and that someone else can understand and build on.
🎯 Currently Focused On
- Cloud Infrastructure: Azure and GCP
- Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, reproducible and scalable deployments
- DevOps & Automation: Kubernetes, Docker, GitHub Actions, Jenkins
- AI: Exploring the foundations - understanding how models work, not just using them
- Security: Zero-Trust architecture and cloud compliance
- Currently Pursuing: CKA (Certified Kubernetes Administrator)
🧭 Where I’m Headed
I’m drawn toward architecture, understanding the full picture rather than going deep on a single layer. I’ve always built wide knowledge across domains, and I think that’s a strength when designing systems that need to hold together across cloud, security, networking, and automation.
I’m also genuinely curious about AI - not just using tools, but understanding what’s under the hood. Building something of my own, from the ground up, is something I’m actively working toward.
